July 10,2006 5:48pm: Finally a moment...Wow, I've so been wanting to share the details of our wedding with you, but my first week back at work was so hectic, it was unbelievable! I'll start from the beginning... I woke up very early in the morning, around 5:30 to go to the bathroom, and the moment I that I crawled back into bed a group of bicyclists staying on the floor above us woke up and apparently started doing gymnastics whilst holding iron weights. Or that's what it sounded like! So needless to say I couldn't get back to sleep, in part because of the gymnastics and in part because I was feeling a tad nervous. So I grabbed some notecards to fill out for my bridesmaids and decided to take an early morning walk. It is amazing how beautifully still Lake George can be on a summer morning. Silver Bay is such an incredible place, because there you are surrounded by buildings, where you know that there are people inside, but yet at that time of the morning there is a hush over the campus and you feel alone, in a peaceful, fresh air in your lungs kind of way. I sat down in the lobby of the Inn and filled out my cards and my mom came down to have some breakfast. We sat and chatted as we waited for the dining hall to open, and then I spent the meal with my mom and my aunt and cousin. After that I went back to my room where all of my bridesmaids, and my maid of honor's little sister, Rhiannon were fast asleep. I shook them all awake and we threw on our bathing suits and sauntered down to the lake for an early morning swim. After swimming - we lay out in the sun. It was a beautiful day, a gentle breeze, blue sky, white fluffy clouds. A perfect day for a wedding. I wasn't remotely nervous or stressed. In fact enought bride came down to the beach looking very serious, with an equally serious wedding photographer with her, scouting out picture locations. We just kind of peered over our sunglasses and chuckled to ourselves about how we were having wayyyyyyy more fun than she was! Hehehe! We caught a sandwich at the Hague Market- smallest general store ever, yet tastiest sandwiches in upstate New York - and we returned to campus to set up the flowers. The girls insisted that they would help my future MIL and urged me to go and take a shower and get ready Since I had time, about two and a half hours, I took a leisurely walk to the front desk, asked if family members had checked in, chatted with people, etcetera. When I made it back to my room, I got undressed, stepped into the bathroom only to realize that I had NO soap, NO shampoo, NO conditioner and NO toothpaste. This was the one moment where bridezilla reared her ugly head. You see my husband's best man had a skeleton key to all of the rooms at Silver Bay from working there. Matt said that he needed the shower stuff and Biggie in turn went and retrieved it. Now - Silver Bay is huge, and I had no idea what room they were in, so I stomped off to the front desk, a considerable walk away to find out where they were staying. I arrived at their room to see that a) they were gone, b) the door was locked, c) I could see my stuff through the window. What a sad, sad tease that was. I managed to get a very nice employee to open the door and flounced back to my room where I saw Matt and Biggie, and I shouted that I was going to KILL BIGGIE, whilst shying my face behind a piece of paper so that Matt didn't "see" me. Then we were down to 1hr 15 min. 1 bride, 3 bridesmaids, 1 sister to take showers All was going well until I sprayed hairspray into my eye. (note Allison, maid of honor's face in the background)
Look how nervous I am in this picture!
My bridesmaids were so beautiful!
Everything leading up to this day was worth it.
We had a wonderful buffet dinner, and after the kiddies went to bed we went to a local bar where (part) of Matt's band rocked out! Even though my favors didn't show up, I got a little sunburned, and I had to take a lightning fast shower... my day was perfect. And words cannot express how much I love my new husband!
