Winter Preparations, Autumn Celebrations + Readymade Giveaway!
See, I have been crafty!

These socks were lovingly knit to, from and during many of my husband's shows and also during breaks at work. I never tire of making and wearing sturdy, farm wool winter socks. The pink and brown wool was hiding in my stash. I'm trying to be really prudent about using what I have when it comes to craft supplies, so I was happy to stash bust with this easy little project.
Autumn, like spring, is such a season of expectation for me. As a New Englander, I feel the urge to prepare for hibernation, knit warm socks, freeze produce, drink a glass of red wine.
Yesterday I received my latest issue of Readymade Magazine with a surprise little perk. I have one free gift subscription to give away, and I've chosen to give it away to one of you, dear readers!.
Do you have winter preparations that you're making right now? Are you celebrating autumn in a special way? Do you have something to be thankful for today? Share your thoughts with me, by 10/14/08 at 12midnight EST, in the comments below! Tuesday, October 14th, I will choose one of you, at random, for the subscription. Your socks are amazing!
In regard for winter prep at our house...yikes! I have been sewing (costumes, mending, and even a shower curtain for my daughter!) Thor and I have also been repaint and rearranging the house, which is much harder than it was last time we dd it..age! And as always, trying to keep up on food storage and preparing for these tough times. (your mom inspires me as much as you do! What a family!)
Thanks? yup, Thanks for everything -the good and the bad, for all will benefit me in the long run.
hugs dear friend.
Those are the most adorable socks! I wish that I were better at knitting - but, socks scare me!
I am thankful that the election is nearing, so we can all move on with our lives. :)
Thank you for commenting on my blog about my fabric scarf holder. I am glad that you enjoyed it. Happy Weekend!
I'm kind of in a crafting slump, truth be told. I feel like I need to get a handle on all the piles and stacks that have accumulated before I sew another thing. So I guess for me, this is the season of simplifying.
Oh man am I just thankful that we have a roof over our heads and food in our bellies and we're able to pay our bills!
What a darling pair of socks!!
Lovely socks my dear! I don't know if you could give away a subscription to another country? I would be grateful to get one though... hehe. Also grateful that I have made art today even though I got a cold and didn't do much at all... Have a great day!
Let's see... for winter, I'm preparing to get this apartment even more tidied up so that moving things around for Christmastime won't be so hard. For fall, I'm thinking of more home-cooked CrockPot meals so that we have a healthy hearty meal ready when we get home from work at nights.
I'm thankful for a job I love, my husband's job supporting the two of us, a healthy puppy and having enough of things that we shouldn't be worried about having to buy much besides the basics if the economy doesn't turn back up soon.
