Things are looking up

climb

This picture is of me rock climbing on my honeymoon. It seems fitting to include this photo in a post to sum up 2006. I'm surrounded by the beauty of nature, and there has been much beauty this year, but I am also struggling to climb uphill, and my struggles have been many.

Let's talk about the bad before the good, as I always like to end on a good note. This year I've struggled with my weight and getting back to work as a dancer/choreographer. I've wallowed and mourned and cried oceans over the loss of our son, Liam. The medical aftermath of it all has been headache and heartache inducing. Physically and mentally it has been an exhausting year.

It is because these terrible things that I have become a more reflective person. I think I have a deeper appreciation for my life and what I would like to do with it now. I have found solace in crafting, caring for my home and finding constant inspiration in the beauty that is this blogosphere. Geek+Nerd made its first sale and I've begun to dance again, if minimally. Matt and I got married, he is truly the best thing that has ever happened to me. We both got new jobs that are more fulfilling, professionally and emotionally, and for all of these things I could not be more grateful.

The good does outweigh the bad and things are looking up. 2007 will be an uphill climb, but I feel a little more prepared for it. I'm ready to grasp hold of whatever rocks and bumps this year has to offer. I want to start my journey to the top!

I'll be back in the New Year with resolutions, maybe a little less philosophy and some crafting! HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!
